Car Battery Testing & Replacement in Metairie
Louisiana heat is hard on car batteries, and a lot of them quit without much warning. If yours is cranking slow or already left you stuck, we'll test it and tell you what's really going on.
Signs your battery is on its way out
- The engine cranks slower than usual, especially first thing in the morning
- Clicking when you turn the key or push the start button
- Dim headlights or dash lights at idle
- You've needed a jump more than once lately
- White or green crust on the battery terminals
- The battery case looks swollen
People are surprised how often batteries die in the summer here. Heat under the hood wears them down from the inside, and then the first hard start finishes them off.
We test before we replace
A dead battery isn't always a bad battery. A weak alternator, a loose or corroded cable, or something draining the battery while the car is parked can all kill a good one. We test the battery, the charging system and the starter, so you're not buying a new battery just to be stuck again next week.
If the battery is fine and the problem is somewhere else, our electrical repair page covers alternators, starters and wiring.
Replacement
If the battery is the problem, we replace it with the right size and type for your car, clean up the terminals and make sure it's charging right before you leave. A lot of newer cars with stop-start need a specific battery type, and some need the new battery registered to the car's computer. We take care of that.
Estimates, warranty and financing
Estimates are free, and you get one in writing before any work starts. Qualifying repairs are covered by our 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty, and financing is available for qualifying repairs if the bill is more than you planned on this month.

Questions we get
How long does a car battery last in Louisiana?
Heat shortens battery life, so they usually don't last as long here as they do up north. The best way to know where yours stands is to test it.
My car died but started with a jump. Do I need a new battery?
Maybe, maybe not. The battery could be worn out, or the alternator may not be charging it, or something could be draining it overnight. We test all three before replacing anything.
Do you replace batteries on cars with stop-start?
Yes. Those cars usually need a specific battery type, and some need the new battery registered to the car's computer. We handle that as part of the job.
