Transmission Service in Metairie
Shifting funny, slipping or leaking red fluid in your driveway? Bring it to Utica Street. We'll check it out and tell you straight what we find and what your options are.
Signs your transmission needs attention
- Engine revs up but the car doesn't pick up speed like it should
- Hard, late or jerky shifts, or a clunk going into drive or reverse
- A pause before the car moves after you put it in gear
- Red or brown fluid under the car
- A burnt smell after driving
- A transmission or check engine light
Stop-and-go traffic on Veterans and Clearview and a lot of short trips make a transmission work harder than highway miles do, and the heat here doesn't help.
What we check first
Not every shifting problem is the transmission itself. A bad sensor, a wiring problem, low fluid from a leaking line, or a worn motor mount can all feel like a transmission going out. So we start with the simple stuff: fluid level and condition, leaks, stored codes, and how it shifts on a test drive.
Fluid service
Transmission fluid wears out. Some manufacturers call for changing it on a schedule, and some say it's good for a very long time. We go by what your manufacturer recommends for your vehicle and how you drive it, not a one-size-fits-all number.
If it needs more
If we find a problem inside the transmission, we'll tell you plainly, give you a free estimate, and talk through your options before anything happens. Call (504) 780-9804 with your year, make, model and mileage and what it's doing, and we'll go from there.
Estimates, warranty and financing
Estimates are free, and you get one in writing before any work starts. Qualifying repairs are covered by our 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty, and financing is available for qualifying repairs if the bill is more than you planned on this month.

Questions we get
How do I know if it's the transmission or something else?
We check fluid, leaks and codes and drive the car before blaming the transmission. Sensors, wiring and motor mounts can all cause symptoms that feel like a transmission problem.
Should I change my transmission fluid?
It depends on your vehicle. Some manufacturers set an interval and some don't. Bring your year, make, model and mileage and we'll tell you what your manufacturer recommends.
Can I keep driving if it's slipping?
We don't recommend it. Slipping usually gets worse and can leave you stuck. Call us at (504) 780-9804 and tell us what it's doing.
